Julien Macdonald spring summer 2017
October 17, 2016
For Spring Summer 2017 the modern red carpet ingenue returns dressed in flaxen animal prints and structured tailoring, drawing inspiration from the prolific Maasai tribes and solitary landscapes of the African plains.
The colour palette is soft and feminine, inspired by Albino animals discovered on faraway travels. Snakeskin is reimagined on dusty pinks through the use of three dimensional Swarovski embroidery to create an Afro-Chic aesthetic.
Drawing inspiration from his extensive archive, Julien Macdonald’ hero knitwear dresses are reimagined in new tones of luxurious gold and silver using Haute Couture techniques, teamed with ombre metallic fringing creating an animalistic second skin for this season’s muse.
The classic smoking jacket, sharp two-piece suits are updated in modern and technical fabrics to sit alongside boilersuits for men and women, while staying true to the Rock and Roll aesthetic of the house. Hand embroidered gunmetal studded embellishment adorns the female body and male torso.
The Spring Summer Man draws inspiration from utility-wear seen through modern interpretations of cargo trousers and jumpsuits in jet black colourways married with silver hardware, teamed with classic Julien Macdonald cobweb inspired knitwear. The continuity of the modern starlet from Autumn Winter 2016 is evident in this season’s Eveningwear. Gowns are fitted to the body and panelled with exquisite and wild Swarovski
The continuity of the modern starlet from Autumn Winter 2016 is evident in this season’s Eveningwear. Gowns are fitted to the body and panelled with exquisite and wild Swarovski designs which is seen through the development of this Woman’s look of choice, the jumpsuit. Swarovski baguettes are heavily embroidered on to stretch tulle, creating the ultimate red carpet uniform for Spring Summer 2017.
